The Texture Project aims to deliver a unique perspective of New York by showcasing the beauty, history, and textures of the city’s walls and facades that are often overlooked in street photography.

There’s something incredibly and undeniably special about New York City. It might not hit you the instant you arrive, but eventually, you’ll feel it. You feel it in the streets; buzzing with energy, creativity, and urgency. And you just want to be a part of it. I wanted to feel it every day, every minute, every second. So I moved here. I left behind a lot to make this move, and with each day I'm realizing that I need to make the most of my time here in this magnificent city.

I started The Texture Project in October of 2011, not long after my move from Los Angeles to New York City. I wanted to create an outlet for the visuals I see on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy it.

The Texture Project is run by Tyler Watamanuk, a freelancer working within both the design and digital advertising industries, who currently resides in Manhattan's historic Lower East Side. In addition to his freelance work, he works as the Founder and Creative Director of lifestyle apparel brand CX.CITY.
